One Question to Ask Today That Will Change the Person You Become Tomorrow

Each evening, Yusuf collapses into the couch with dessert and Netflix, telling himself he’ll definitely start his workout routine tomorrow.

Years later, when he's diabetic with high blood pressure, he realises tomorrow never came.

This is not the person he was planning to become.

He wishes he'd done something sooner.

Are your daily habits creating the person you want to become?

Or are they creating someone else?

Do you want to be that person?

Your habits shape you.

We underestimate the power habits have over our lives. Each is a step towards building the identity we have of ourselves. Every time you repeat the habit is like you're chiseling away at a block of marble.

Each action - whether it's missing the workout or going for a walk - is a deliberate stroke, shaping the statue of the person you're becoming.

This is why it's important to pause and ask:

With every habit I repeat, I'm shaping who I'm becoming.

Do I actually want to become that person?

When you answer this question regularly, you can avoid regret.

You can never get back wasted time. Once it's gone, it's gone. So instead of realising too late, you can make small changes early and often.

Get yourself moving in the right direction.

  • Start walking for 10 minutes each evening.

  • Choose the banana instead of the biscuits.

  • Read the book instead of scrolling endlessly.

Each small change, done regularly, redirects you towards that person you want to become.

The earlier you make them, the fewer regrets you'll carry on your journey.

So start today. Take a moment. Choose one habit and ask yourself:

Will this make me the person I want to become?

If this made you think, share it with one person who might need it, or subscribe to get a weekly journal prompt and breakdown.
